Topic 2
Detecting Hazardous Domestic Situations
The vast majority of domestic accidents are preventable. A large number of them can be prevented by just observing and knowing where and what the risks are.
Don’t regard your home or your leisure time activities as safe havens.
Spot all hazardous situations immediately and act on the spot before it is too late.
- Gas: faulty installations can cause carbon monoxide poisoning or fires or explosions in case of leakage.
- Electricity: too many private installations are no longer compliant. Invest in compliance to avoid accidents and fires.
- Fire: Do not place curtains or tapestries close to halogen lamps and chimneys and do not leave lit matches or candles unattended.
- Cuts: prevent accidents with razors or scissors. Children shouldn’t be able to get hold of them.
