Inattention, Fatigue and Absent-Mindedness Behind the Wheel

Did you know that your vigilance varies during the day and is at its lowest between 2 a.m. and 5 a.m. and falls sharply between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.?

Be extra cautious if you are driving at those times and pay attention to some warning signs of drowsiness: yawning, stiff neck or back pain, itchy eyes, need to change positions frequently, difficulty in maintaining a constant speed, driving errors or drifting from your lane, trouble remembering the last few miles driven, missing exits or traffic signs, trouble keeping your eyes open and your head up, daydreaming, wandering thoughts…

Tips :

If signs of drowsiness occur, do not hesitate one minute and stop to have a rest! After a nap you can resume your journey safely ... provided you have another nap if sleepiness comes on you again.

Get enough sleep the week before the trip.

Have a light meal with, preferably, slow sugars.

Ventilate the vehicle.
